Bernece Boehm Beaton, died Christmas Day, December 25, 2012, in Port Edwards Wisconsin. For the last five years she was a resident of Edgewater Haven Nursing Home.

“Barney” as she was known to all, was a lively and spry 95 years old with a quick mind and a giving heart. She was born September 3, 1917 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, and high school sweetheart, George W. Beaton who died in 2010. They were married for 72 years. She and George moved to Virginia in 1942 and lived there for 50 years. She constantly reminded everyone that when she died she was going to meet her George on the 9th hole at the Heavenly Golf Course.

Barney was a long-time 5th grade school teacher. Known as “Miss
Beaton” to all of her students, she influenced and blessed many young lives with her gift for teaching them “how to learn” and her unlimited knowledge of English and Math. She has left behind an incredible legacy for all. Barney was a wonderful grandmother, mother and friend to every one.

She is survived by her son, Pastor Bill Beaton and wife Julie of Port Edwards, Wisconsin, who visited her daily and kept abreast of all of her daily activities. She is also survived by her daughter Joan Beaton Skrobiszewski and husband, John of Portsmouth, Virginia. She left behind 6 grandchildren: George Raymond Beaton of Sheboygan, Wisconsin and Kate Marie Beaton of Port Edwards Wisconsin and Lynn Barbour (Jack) of Richmond, Virginia and John Skrobiszewski, Jr. of Richmond, Virginia, Margaret Jones (Curtis) of Chesapeake, Virginia and Ed Skrobiszewski of Chesapeake, Virginia; 10 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
