Douglas E. Eklund, age 53, of 2430 Kingston Road, Wisconsin Rapids, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at 7:30 PM Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Mary Lou Plummer will officiate, burial will take place at a later date. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. There will also be a celebration of Doug's life held at the Wild Horse Salon in Kellner, WI on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM.

Doug was born September 12, 1958 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Francis and Mary Lou (Haza) Eklund. He married Lisa Hoeft on July 27, 2011 in Wisconsin Rapids. He was employed by McCain Foods in Plover from 1979 until the time of his death. Doug served in the United States Marine Corp during peacetime. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking, was an avid Nascar and Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed watching Brewer games.

Douglas is survived by his wife Lisa, Children Heather Eklund and her daughter Sierra of Port Edwards, WI, son Dustin Eklund of Kellner, WI, step-son Geremiah Winker of Nekoosa, WI, parents Francis and Mary Lou Eklund of Grand Rapids, WI, mother-in-law Lorraine Hoeft of Nekoosa, WI, brothers Steven (Lisa) Eklund of Beaufort, SC and Dennis (Tracy) of Manawa, WI, sister Helen (Ron) Henke of Grand Rapids, WI, brother and sister-laws Bill (Bev De Grand) of Green Bay, WI, Jean (Ron) Klein of Nekoosa, WI, David (Deb) Hoeft of Big Horn, WY, Laurie (Dave) Hanks of Farson, WY, Barb (Mark) Mason of Spring Grove, IL and Melvin (Karen) Hoeft of Littleton, CO, aunt Jeanette Bohman of Marshfield, WI and Uncle Verner Eklund of Wis. Rapids, WI, he is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Bernard and Mildred Haza, paternal grandparents Edwin and Ethel Eklund, father-in-law Melvin Hoeft, uncles Bernard and Jack Haza, aunts Sharon Nelson, Joyce Rayome and Rosalie Eklund.
